Dawn Staley said she would feel forced to leave South Carolina (who won three college national titles) if she got a job as a head coach in the New York Knicks.
Staley had an interview with the Knicks before They hired Mike Brown last month.

Staley said she thinks she performed well in the interview. However, she questioned whether she might have jeopardized her chances of landing NBA When she asked the Knicks officials whether Job was well prepared for the impact of hiring the league’s first female coach.
“If you hire me as the first woman [head] Will coaches in the NBA affect your daily work? Because that happens,” Staley said. “You will be asked questions about whether you don’t have to answer whether you are a male coach. You won’t have to deal with everything else, you don’t have to deal with it, and you don’t have to deal with it when you hire a man. That made them think, “Maybe she is right.”
Staley said she felt the energy change since then.
“So, I shot myself by curiosity and asking all of these questions,” Staley said.
