CDC Director Susan Monarez was ousted after less than a month of work | Trump Administration

After less than a month of work, U.S. officials announced Wednesday that the U.S. director of the top U.S. Public Health Department has left.

“Susan Monarez is no longer the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We thank her for her dedicated service to the American people.” healthy Human Services wrote in a statement posted on social media.

HHS officials did not explain why Monarez no longer works with the agency.

Before the announcement, Monares told the Associated Press: “I can’t comment.”

The Washington Post first reported on her removal and was sacked by an unnamed source Trump administration.

Monarez, 50, is the agency’s 21st director and the first confirmed director through the Senate after the law in 2023. She was appointed acting director in January and then was appointed as nominee in March after Trump suddenly withdrew his preferred David Weldon.

She was sworn in on July 31 (less than a month ago) – making her the shortest CDC director in the history of the 79-year-old agent.
