Two children were killed and at least 17 people were injured after the shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis.
The attack occurred around 08:30 local time (BST 13:30), and the children attended the service in the first week of school.

Three law enforcement sources told CBS News, a U.S. partner of the BBC, that the gunman has been identified as Robin Westman, 23, from a suburb of Minneapolis.
His motivation is currently unknown.
He was described as wearing black clothes and carrying three weapons – a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol. Police believe the car he found in the church parking lot also found smoke bombs.
Minneapolis Police Commissioner Brian O’Hara said he had no “a broad known criminal history” and he acted alone.
“For families who have lost their children, our hearts are broken,” O’Hara said, and the youthful life “work for recovery” and “the entire community has done a great deal of harm to this meaningless attack.”

Two children aged eight and 10 were killed. Seventeen people were also injured, 14 of whom were children.
Police said the gunman was also dead.
CBS News said ten of the injured were in critical condition in the hospital.
Thomas Wyatt, president of emergency medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, said seven children aged six to 14 were taken to his department and were in critical condition, with four requiring surgery.
Non-critical patients were taken to other hospitals.
“These are Minneapolis families,” Jacob Frey said in the briefing. “These are American families, and the amount of pain they are suffering now is extraordinary.”
Democrat Frey pointed to a typical political response to mass shootings, saying: “Don’t say it’s about ‘thoughts and prayers’. These kids are actually praying.”
School
According to its website, the Catholic Church and its faith-based schools are suitable for students from kindergartens (nurses) to grade 8 (14 years old).
The teaching method in Catholic schools is one of the faith-based learnings that are implemented in all classrooms.
It added that their religion “forced” them to contact other people in the area with other parishes and their sister schools in Haiti.
