Ryder Cup: Captain America Keegan Bradley won’t play at Bethpage | Ryder Cup

Keegan Bradley chooses to oppose being the first Ryder Cup Since the competition since 1963. Captain America was eager to wait for six wildcard picks Wednesday, a difficult decision to decide not to try to combine roles in New York next month.

Bradley ranked 11th in the world, but chose others. Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns received a call from the captain. Bradley reflected on “the most incredible year of my life” when announcing his decision at a media conference in Texas.

“This decision was made not too long ago,” Bradley said. “There is a little bit that I’m playing this year and all these guys are stepping up in a major way and working with this team.”

Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, JJ Spaun, Harris English, Russell Henley and Bryson DeChambeau are already eligible for the U.S. team. Notable high-profile absentees from the US are Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka, both of whom endured the disappointing years.

European captain Luke Donald will name his six draft picks on Monday. When the team beats 26-28 at the age of 45 from September 26-28, the United States will seek to win the trophy they lost 16½ to 11½Th Ryder Cup version.
