McIlroy, 36, Visited Alcaraz, 22, in practice court Monday, August 25, ahead of the first round of the Spanish tennis star against the American player, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City Reilly Opelka.
The 2025 Masters Champion rubbed Alcaraz’s new buzz and asked, “Why?”
“It’s just my struggling haircut,” Alkaraz explained to McIlroy. “I mean, I have to start fresh.”
McIlroy, who I shaved my head recentlysaid: “I like it. Very good. It’s a great look.”
A few hours later, McIlroy watched Alcaraz beat Opelka 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
After the match, Alcaraz provided more details about his split new hairstyle.
“I think my hair is really long,” he told reporters. “Before the game, I really wanted to get a haircut. Suddenly, my brother misunderstood the machine. [was] Scrape it off. ”

Unfortunately for Alkaraz, not everyone feels the same.
Be an American tennis star Frances Tiafoe Asked about Alcaraz’s buzz cut, he had no problem letting his opinions know.
“Yes, it’s terrible,” Tiafoe, 27, Tell the Tennis Channel on Monday. “It’s so scary.”
Tiafo continued. “I don’t know who told him that it’s good. I don’t know who told him to do it, but it’s terrible. From a guy with a hairstyle in a week, a week and pride in a good hairstyle, it’s terrible. At the end of the day, it’s my Carlos, this is my guy. But yes, he needs to go with me.
While Tiafoe certainly doesn’t like the style, he joked that Alcaraz’s hairstyle would make him “more aerodynamic”.
Tiafoe reveals Alcaraz’s coach Juan Carlos Ferrerosaid the buzz cut has improved the game for Alkaraz.

Tiafoe also won the U.S. Open on Monday, defeating Yoshihito Nishioka In line sets, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Victory plays the showdown in the second round against the United States Martin Damm Jr. Wednesday, August 27.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz and his new buzz cut will face Italian Matteo Bellucci In the second round on Wednesday.
