Daniel was ejected into the national focus when he was appointed as the U.S. Secret Service Honor Service Agent in a joint speech to Congress earlier this year.

Since then, Daniel, supported by his father Theodis, has been respected by law enforcement agencies across the country, announcing his bid for the 18th Congressional District of Texas Earlier this month.

“We are looking for courage, commitment and experience when choosing people to play key roles. You see all these stars, silver, diamonds. He has the experience we need. He’s tested in battle. He’s a leader who has a strong public service record, and we’re proud to promote him on him,” Adams said.

The mayor said public safety was a top priority for his administration, announcing Daniel would visit the Empire State Building and other tourist attractions on Tuesday.

Adams showed Daniel the uniform of the “Deputy Mayor DJ” and then made his announcement after the oath-in-charge.

“DJs initially had five months of life and we’ve beaten that,” Daniel shared with Fox News Digital Digital earlier this month.

Daniel was diagnosed with end-stage brain and spinal cancer at the age of 6, but continued to resist the odds.

In his Congress speech, Trump describes Daniel As “a young man who truly loves our policeman,” he named him the Secret Service agent of Congress Honors.
