Abrego Garcia is detained by Ice for a second deportation

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was detained upon arrival at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office (ICE) office in Baltimore.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed his arrest in a statement and said the Ice “is dealing with deportation.”

In March, he was wrongly deported to the notorious prison in El Salvador and then brought back to face criminal charges.

His lawyers said U.S. authorities told him he could be expelled from Uganda after he refused to accept a plea agreement.

His legal team accused the United States of trying to “force” him to plead guilty by threatening to redeprive him “in half of the world.”

One of his lawyers, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, told reporters outside the ice zone.

He said Mr. Abrego Garcia has filed a new federal lawsuit with Maryland, challenging his current detention and potential deportation until he proceeds to trial.

They said their client refused to plead guilty to human smuggling charges in exchange for deportation. On Monday, he was asked to check in at the on-site office in Baltimore.

In the interview, Mr. Sandoval Moshenberg said the ice officer detained Mr. Abrego Garica without explanation. An official told the lawyer that he would be taken to the detention center but would not designate which one.

His lawyer argued that there was no reason to detain Mr. Abrego Garcia because he was under ankle surveillance and “basically in a house arrest.”

His supporters are now worried that he faces a second deportation – this time in Uganda, a country with no recognised relationships.

Supporters held a rally outside the venue that supported the El Salvadorian nationals, whose immigration case has made global headlines.

Ms. Neum noted in a statement that Mr. Abreg Garcia was guilty of human trafficking and domestic abuse. President Donald Trump will not allow him to “terrorize American citizens.”

The United States has reached a bilateral deportation agreement with Honduras and Uganda as part of Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigrants.

The documents obtained by CBS News, a U.S. partner of the BBC, quoted the Uganda Foreign Ministry as saying it prefers the individuals it accepts from African countries.

The legend of Mr. Abrego Garcia’s deportation case has been since March when he was deported to his native El Salvador and initially remained in the infamous Cecot prison.

But the judge ordered the government to promote his reward after U.S. government officials admitted to being deported due to “administrative errors.”

He was sent to Tennessee, where he was charged with human smuggling plans and was detained Friday after a federal judge’s ruling.
