Juventus condemns racism for abuse of their American midfielder Weston McKenny | Juventus

American midfielder Weston McKennie is Juventus Italian club said on Sunday that it completed a 2-0 season in Serie A to beat Parma.

Juventus issued a statement on social media saying McKennie was the target of “personal discriminatory racist remarks on the road” while he warmed up with his teammates.

“Juventus strongly condemns this incident and any form of racism and will ensure full cooperation with the sports judicial authorities to identify those responsible,” Juventus said in a statement.

McKennie is a late substitute for the game in Torino, with Canadian forward Jonathan David scoring in his game Serie A Juventus made its debut.

McKennie joined Juventus in 2020. In 2023, Fiorentina was suspended as fans followed McKennie and other Juventus players instructed racism and discrimination.

Sunday’s events are the latest in a series of racist allegations of European football.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino last week described two incidents of suspected racist abuse as “unacceptable.”

Infantino’s comments were on charges of racist abuse in a cup match at Lokomotive Leipzig, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, accused of racist abuse in a match at RSV Eintracht.
