France summons US envoy Charles Kushner

France said it would call on Charles Kushner, U.S. ambassador to Paris, about unacceptable allegations of unacceptable a surge in anti-Semitism.

Kushner, a Jewish son who married Ivanka, the daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, commented in an open letter to French President Emmanuel Macron in the Wall Street Journal.

The Foreign Ministry statement said that “France firmly refuted these latest allegations” which were “unacceptable” and added that Kushner will appear on Monday.

In his letter The ambassador called on Macron to lower his criticism of Israel and outlined examples of anti-Semitism, which he said had “had long created the lives of the French.”

“In France, there is no day passed without Jewish attacks on the streets, synagogues or schools being defiled or Jewish-owned businesses being destroyed.

He also said he was ready to work with Macron and other French leaders to solve the problem by “making serious plans.”

The Ministry stressed that since the 1961 Vienna Convention, interference in a country is not allowed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote a letter to Macron last week. In it, he accused the French leaders of calling for international recognition of the Palestinian state’s international contributions.

France plans to formally recognize Palestine in September.

When Macron announced the news, he said: “We must establish the state of Palestine, ensure its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, this helps the security of all people in the Middle East. There is no other option”.

He has previously publicly criticized anti-Semitism for opposing French values ​​and increased security to protect synagogues and other Jewish centers in response to anti-Semitism related to the Gaza conflict.
