The judge ruled that most of us, Donald Trump, had to be demolished at the controversial “crocodile officer” immigration detention center in Florida, and immigrants should no longer be brought there.
The ruling notes that the facility is causing serious environmental damage to Florida’s Florida heritage and has allowed the Trump administration to avoid its actions by 60 angels.
The judge used a preliminary injunction that temporarily restricted movement at the facility, while lawsuits filed by environmental groups were heard.
Florida has appealed, working with the Trump administration on the construction of the site.
The 82-page ruling says detainees can no longer be brought to the center and any new construction work or expansion at the site is prohibited.
The decision is a major legal blow to Trump’s plan to the Center, which has attracted widespread criticism for allegedly harsh conditions and potential harm to local ecosystems.
In Thursday’s ruling, Kathleen Williams, a District Court judge appointed by former President Barack Obama, said the facility had irreparable harm to the Florida Everglades and its endangered species.
She also ordered the shutdown of “all generators, gasoline, sewage and other waste receptors”, which would greatly affect the center’s operating capabilities.
Judge Williams cited plans from the 1960s to build a tourist airport in the Everglades that was denied for fear of possible environmental damage.
“Since then, every Florida governor, every Florida senator, and countless local and national politicians, including the president, have publicly committed to their lack of clear support for the restoration, protection and protection of the Everglades.”
“The order can only adhere to the basic requirements of legislation aimed at fulfilling these promises.”
Environmental organizations that are challenged by law welcome the ruling.
“This is a milestone victory for the Everglades and countless Americans who believe that this harmful wilderness should be protected, not exploited,” said Eve Samples, executive director of Friends of Everglades.
“Its clear message is that environmental law must be respected by leaders at the highest level of our government and ignoring them will have consequences.”
Thursday’s decision comes after an earlier temporary restraining order issued by Judge Williams, which ordered construction to be stopped on site.
“Alligator Alcatraz” is known as the core of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
Its name is built in the middle of Miami swamps, from wildlife of alligators, crocodiles and pythons in surrounding wetlands – which will leave detainees inescapable, Trump said.
The facility aims to hold 3,000 detainees and touts as a role model for future detention centers to support the Trump administration’s deportation agenda.
During a visit to the facility in July, Trump praised his potential to hold “most sinister immigrants, the most vicious people on the planet.”
But since its operation began, the site has been the subject of several lawsuits and complaints by environmental activists and local residents.
Experts have previously warned that damaged regional wetlands and endangered species could cancel Florida’s huge effort to restore the Everglades, which have cost state billions of dollars.
