Free Colombian activists say Trump administration fails to suppress pro-Palestine voices

Mahmoud Khalil, an activist at Columbia University, said the Trump administration has failed to curb pro-Palestine voices after being released in more than three months of immigration detention.

He told the BBC after returning to New Jersey from a detention center in Louisiana that he told the BBC. “All of these attempts to suppress Pro-Palestinian sound failed.”

Mr. Harrier was a prominent voice in the pro-Palestinian protests at New York University last year, and his March 8 arrest sparked demonstrations in New York and Washington, D.C.

The U.S. government wants to expel him, believing his activism is harmful to foreign policy interests.

Speaking at the airport in Newark, New Jersey, Mr. Harrier vowed to continue advocating Palestinian rights, as well as immigration rights sentenced to jail in Louisiana.

He accused the White House of trying to “explore anyone who disagrees with the government.”

He took the flowers given to him by his supporters and shouted “Free Palestine” as he concluded his remarks. When he left the press conference with his wife, he was pushing a stroller to carry the baby son, who was born in prison.

Mr. Khalil joined with New York Democratic Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said his release showed that the Trump administration lost its legal struggle in the U.S. legal struggle to advocate for Palestinians.

“The Trump administration knows they are launching a failed legal battle,” she said.

“They are breaking the law, they know they are breaking the law. They are trying to use these one-time examples to intimidate everyone else.”

Mr. Harrier’s remarks came the day after the judge ordered him to release him from prison at risk or threat to the community as immigration lawsuits continued.

The Trump administration vowed to appeal his release as it continued its efforts to evacuate him from the United States.
