Singh illegally crossed the United States through the southern border in 2018 and was able to obtain CDL in California. Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin said the first Trump administration rejected his job mandate request in September 2020.
McLaughlin has been tangled with the news magazine in recent days as the two argue about responsibility.
“Hey, Genius: The federal government (Trump Administrator) has confirmed that this person meets federal and state immigration requirements – you issued him a work permit (EAD). As usual, the Trump administration is either lying or ignorant,” the Newsom office said in a post X after being criticized by McLaughlin.
