U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of R-Texas announced Thursday that he will run for the next Texas Attorney General.
Roy, who represents the 21st Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, announced the news in a campaign video shared with X, which focused on preserving the legacy of Texas’s “freedom, freedom and self-determination.”
“Texas has a long and proud tradition of defending our homes, our freedoms and communities,” he wrote in the accompanying message. “I am running for Attorney General to continue this legacy…I am not afraid of fighting, not afraid of winning, not afraid of defending Texas. #livefree”
