State Republicans push Texas Congress map to improve medium-term opportunities through House

The map, which voted 88 to 52, has set a new look for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections and has added five Republican-slanted congressional districts in Lone Star State.

Rep. Todd Hunter, a Republican who wrote the bill for the new map, rebutted that four of the five new districts were “the least majority Hispanic” and noted that every new district now presents Republicans. Still, he has no doubt about why Republicans pursue changes in the map of Congress.

“The basic goals of the program are simple. [to] Improve the Republican political performance. ” he said.

But the Democratic lockdown ended Monday when Abbott called for a second special session after they asked California to start and start re-dividing the map Texas Republicans are creating.
