A professional truck driver who saved California kidnapping victim while driving Tennessee – According to officials, using his windshield camera to record critical video evidence – recently won the recognition of the “angel” of the U.S. highway.
Ron Ross’s MCK Trucking drives in Madison, Alabama is the center of a dramatic story that has attracted attention in the media community dedicated to discovering exciting news stories.
He stopped at Interstate 40 in the West Rural West along the lounge area Tennessee In February, he noticed a young woman running barefoot in her shoes, running barefoot in her hands. According to Rose of Newport, Tennessee, she said in a press release from the Truck Carrier Airlines Association (TCA) that she ran about a quarter of a mile before jumping into the woods and a man chased her.
“I thought in my head, ‘Something is not right’ “It scares me. ”
Ross called 911 for emergency help. The nearby Tennessee Highway Patrol arrived within five minutes and the woman was rescued, TCA said.
A camera on Ross’ windshield recorded a video of the scene he handed over to the police. After talking to law enforcement, Ross learned that the young woman kidnapped was brought from California, and investigators believe the video was “reliable evidence used to prosecute the kidnapper.”
“I asked another truck driver there: ‘Did I just save that girl’s life?’” a statement cited by Ross in the press release. “I hope I did.”
David Wheeler, director of transportation safety at MCK, told TCA that his company encourages its drivers to “say something, if they see something.”
“MCK is pleased to have drivers like Ron make a difference in the world,” Wheeler said in a statement.
Since 1997, TCA has managed what it calls Road Angel Plans for truck drivers who show kindness, courtesy and courage while on duty. Ross was designated as TCA Road Angel at the end of June, the group said.
