New York, New York – He runs for mayor with a Democratic Party New York City, Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa said he was on the mission.
“I have to beat Zohran Mamdani to save the city,” Sliwa said in a digital interview with Fox News this week.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist State Councilor from Queens, New York City, sent a political shock wave across the country in June, and he stood out in the former administration. Andrew Cuomo There are also nine candidates who occupy the Democratic Party’s mayor nomination.
But with former three-time governor Cuomo resigning in 2021, resigning in multiple scandals – still serving as an independent candidate in the general election and falling into trouble with current Democratic mayor Eric Adams, Sliwa also runs as independent, and Sliwa sees a way to win in the city where GOP vote box wins.

“Zoran is a Democratic candidate, but there are two other Democrats in this race, the famous Democrats, Eric Adams And Andrew Cuomo, they are Zohran’s light because they actually agree more on the issue than they disagree. ”
Sliwa showed “I am the only Republican candidate. I have Republican values.”
Almost all polls in the New York City mayoral campaign show that Mandani maintained a healthy double-digit lead over Cuomo and other competitors in the November election as he aims to be the first Muslim and first millennial in the U.S.’s highest-popular city.

The election vote was also Jim Walden, a former federal prosecutor who ran for independence.
Walden proposed earlier this summer that an independent investigation will be conducted in September to determine which candidate will beat Mamdani’s best shot, while the others agreed to quit.
Although Cuomo partially accepted the proposal, Adams and Sliwa have not signed it yet.

Sliva reiterated: “I’m not dropping out. I’m a major party candidate. Let the independents play music chairs and decide to drop out.”
Sliwa became co-founder of a nonprofit crime prevention organization patrolling city subways in the 1970s and 1980s, and later the second election for the Republican mayor.
But he said he didn’t talk to the president Donald Trumpa native of New York City or a member of the president’s political team.

“No, President Donald Trump I’ve known for years hasn’t had any conversations. We have a love-hate relationship. Everyone knows that,” Sliwa reiterated.
Trump and Republicans occasionally target Mandani, with the president claiming he is “communist.” It is part of the Republican effort to connect Mamdani and his left-wing proposals to Democrats across the country, part of a long-standing effort to portray Democrats as extremists.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration’s Justice Department dismissed federal corruption allegations against Adams, so the mayor could work with the Trump administration to carry out illegal immigration crackdowns.
Earlier this month, The New York Times reported that Trump and Cuomo discussed the mayoral race on the phone, a conversation the former governor denied had occurred.
“I know [Trump] Having a relationship with Andrew Cuomo for years, he stopped Eric Adams from going to jail, so he communicated with them, which was good, good for me. ”
But he urged the president to “become Switzerland and stay neutral” in the New York City mayoral game.
Sliwa noted that there has been an armed conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas for nearly two years.
“I think the best way the president can help in this sport is to try to bring peace to Gaza between Israel and Hamas because of the war rage every day, and Zohran Mamdani has a great day. Thanks to the videos, photos we see, it has had an impact on people in New York City.”
Sliwa has been identified in New York City for decades, partly due to his trademark Red Beret.
But he has withdrawn more and more when he bids for the mayor for the second time in recent months.

“It’s a forked Curtis Sliwa,” he told Fox News. “When I’m on the subway, it’s like I’m going to run most of the campaign with the average guy in a few hours…or I’m on the street, I’m going to wear berets. It’s in memory of six guardian angels killed in the guardians on duty, three of the volunteers here and around the world and around the world, injured for 46 years.
But Sliwa added: “I do realize that the people in the company who make the decisions feel more comfortable when I take off my beret.”
