Staten Island, NY – Mayor Eric Adams tells Fox News figures during another fatal shooting in New York City New York City Police Department (NYPD).
On Monday morning, Adams announced an expansion on Staten Island, the New York Police Department’s Quality of Life Division, a program designed to clear homeless camps, address outdoor drug use and address public safety-related issues, and respond to noise complaints.
The news came the day after the deadly shooting in Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Adams confirmed on Monday that 14 victims have now been identified, including three deaths.
Adams told Fox News that his announcement Monday had nothing to do with President Donald Trump’s crime strike in Washington, D.C.

Trump moved to the Metropolitan Police Department last week, sending hundreds of National Guard and federal agents to Washington, D.C. to fight crime and “beautify” the city.
“As we pointed out over and over again, we get it.” Adams talked about the city’s ability to fight crime without the federal government’s involvement. “Our numbers speak for ourselves.”
NYPD Shooting touts record In the first five months of the year, the murders called May the “safeest in history recorded in shootings and murders.”
Despite these statistics, the shootings in Midtown Manhattan shocked the city when four people were killed last month.
Adams said on Monday New York City does need “aid at the federal level to deal with illegal guns flowing to our streets.”

But Adams is still confident, telling Fox News numbers: “Our numbers are clear. We are willing to share with other cities the successful work we have here, and we have done it before.”

The mayor is running for reelection as an independent candidate and he said the city knows how to work with federal authorities,”New Yorkers are dealing with it Crime crisis. ”
“We are an example of what all cities can do, but we are not responding to the things we are reading about it,” Adams said.
The New York Police Department launched its Quality of Life Department or Q-Teams on April 14. Adams and New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the teams “major improvements to the quality of life questions for New Yorkers.”
Several Staten Islanders participated in the Monday morning announcement, with Adams complaining about their quality of life.
A woman told Adams that the floor in her apartment building had not been wiped off, the garbage was not picked up, the elevator was not working, and there was no hot water in her building Monday morning.

Adams told residents to form a tenant association and promised to meet with them to discuss issues affecting their communities.
