Even the best golfers in the world can sometimes allow many bad days to follow them home in the course – just ask Collin Morikawa.

In with US WeeklyMorikawa, 28, admitted that it can be “very difficult” to focus on anything other than the sport when things don’t work.

“Golf is an important part of my life and who I am,” Morikava said. “It’s easy to be able to separate yourself when it’s going well. But when things aren’t going well, your mind keeps thinking about golf. ‘How do I stay better?” Because that’s what we’re going to accomplish: how we progress. It’s just a never-ending cycle. ”

Morikawa, a two-time Grand Slam champion on the PGA Tour, believes golfers are forced to be different from athletes in other sports.

“It’s a huge hurt for you,” he said. “I don’t think people are aware of the pressure we’re under every day. We’re trying to perfect this game, we can’t perfect what we can’t perfect. Essentially, we can’t go 4-4 with 5 RBIs and 2 home runs.”

Morikawa said he learned to balance his professional pursuits and personal life through “time management”.

“As anyone who succeeds, you have to be very, very good in time,” he explained. “If you make up your mind in a short time, you can do a lot of things. That’s the most important thing.”

Morikava also praised his wife Katherine – A marathon runner and former golfer who married in November 2022, an important asset to his mental health.

“I wouldn’t say it’s necessary for everyone, but it’s necessary for me,” Morikava said of his marriage. “I’m proud of her. I think the motivation she brought to me in her running style makes me better every day. She played golf in college and stopped playing after a year of playing and was able to travel with me.”

Morikava continued: “Luckily, having your best friend by your side, being able to go out and enjoy life, travel the world, see new places and do what I love. I’m so grateful to her for giving up a lot of things she loves to do and keeping a lot of time out on this journey.”

Currently, Morikawa is hunting in the FedEx playoffs, and the playoff weekend continues from the Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.
