The California government remains fierce as controversial over Texas rezoning efforts. Gavin Newsom Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that the Golden State will hold plans for a special election in early November, with its own rezoning plan in accordance with voters’ voting measures.

Newsom said the move was a counterattack against Texas and was carried out in a transparent manner, but if the measure was adopted, Democrats could also see Democrats take five seats. The plan will allow Democrats to temporarily bypass the state’s independent redivision committee and adopt a new congressional map before the 2026 election.

“We are talking about emergency measures to deal with what’s going on in Texas and we will be ineffective,” Newsom said in a news conference Friday.
