Wildfires broke out in Portugal over the weekend killed at least 35 people, including a one-month-old baby. Today, about 1,600 cars are fighting the fires, with more than 5,300 firefighters, some of whom said it was started by arsonists. Wildfires have also died in neighboring Spain at least four people.

Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty to deserters and misconduct in front of the enemy today. After leaving Afghanistan, he was captured by the Taliban in 2009. It prompted strict searches and prisoner exchanges. Bergdal appeared today at a military judge in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The 31-year-old can be sentenced to life imprisonment. He said his move was unforgivable, adding that he did not – quote – “consider that there is any reason to perform a crucial task to find a person.”

Truck driver pleaded guilty in court to deadly immigrants. San Antonio police found at least 39 immigrants, 10 of whom died, and last year, filled with sultry semi-trailers. Driver James Matthew Bradley Jr. begged for conspiracy and transport of immigration, resulting in death. He is now facing life in prison.

A New Jersey man was convicted last year for planting two high-pressure boil bombs on New York Street. Ahmed Khan Rahimi faces a maximum sentence, including the use of weapons of mass destruction. One of the bombs exploded near Chelsea in Manhattan, hurting 30 people. The second one did not explode. Officials said Rahimi was inspired by ISIS and al-Qaeda.
