Minnesota assassination survivor and husband fire 17 times

Survivors of the deadly attack on two Minnesota lawmakers on Saturday said she and her husband were “very lucky to live” after being hit by 17 bullets.

State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot dead early Saturday morning, but lived. Melissa Hortman – the tallest Democratic member of the state capitol – her husband Mark was shot to death.

Yvette Hoffman said in a statement that she and her husband John were “destroyed” by the death of Hortmans.

Police are looking for the suspect Vance Luther Boelter, who wears a latex mask and pretends to be an officer to shoot victims in a house in a suburban Minneapolis before escaping on foot.

Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar shared Mrs. Hoffman’s statement on Instagram.

Mrs. Hoffman wrote: “John is now enduring many surgeries and is approaching the woods every hour.”

“He accepted 9 bullet hits. I took 8 and we were both lucky to be alive.

“We destroyed us by losing Melissa and Mark’s losses. We have no words. This kind of political hatred has never been a place.”

Police have not disclosed the murderer’s motive.

Mrs. Hoffman’s nephew said she abandoned a post from her daughter during her assassination attempt, “using her body as a shield to save lives.”

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, daughter Hope was born in Spina Rift in her 20s, and her father was previously cited to inspire him into state politics.

Police said Sunday they found a vacant car related to a suspect in Sibley County, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) of the murder scene.

The discovery of the black sedan was told of the local residents’ cell phones, and one of the messages said: “Suspects were not found.

A cowboy hat was found nearby, similar to what Boelter, 57, wore.

Police also said on Sunday that Boelter’s wife was detained in a traffic stop and three relatives were detained in a car in Onamia City, more than 100 miles from a family home in a rural Green Island community on Saturday morning.

Drew Evans of the Minnesota Criminal Arrests Department said in a press conference Sunday night that Jenny Boelter was released and not detained because she belonged to the co-op.

Police have expanded their search for the national routes to South Dakota, and the FBI added Boelter to the most popular list and received a $50,000 reward.

Both targeted lawmakers belong to Minnesota’s Democratic-Agriculture Party, which is linked to the National Democratic Party.

Authorities said they took back a list of targets that included names from Minnesota Democratic politicians, from another vehicle used by the suspect.

Gov. Tim Walz, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Klobuchar and another U.S. Senator Tina Smith were on the list along with state Attorney General Keith Ellison, people familiar with the matter told local media.

“Obviously, it’s politically motivated,” Klobuchar told a press conference Sunday morning.

Republican Donald Trump told ABC News on Sunday that the attack was “a terrible thing.”

Investigators said Boelter was disguised as a police officer when Booter conducted the attack and possessed a police car that looked like a police car equipped with flashing emergency lights.

Authorities said the Gunners first targeted the Hoffmans at their home in Champlin around 02:00 local time on Saturday.

Shortly thereafter, Hotman and her husband Mark were shot dead at their home in Brooklyn Park, 8 miles away.

The officer arrived at Hotman’s home and exchanged gunfire with the suspect at around 03:35. Authorities say the suspect managed to escape from the car, leaving his car behind.

According to Boelter’s resume, he has a background in security and military training and is also a pastor.

Brooklyn Park City remained silent Sunday morning as the community was suspected of assassination at its doorstep.

Taha Abuisneh, who lives across the street, said he and his wife have known the family for more than 20 years.

“They are very good neighbors in a very quiet neighborhood,” he told the BBC. “You can’t see the police activity in this community. We’re very shocked.”

Two other residents nearby who do not want to be named say the suburban community is rolling up.

“My next door neighbor heard the camera,” said one. “We’re all texting back and forth.”

She and her husband describe how they received their annual Christmas card from the Hotmans.

“It’s so big for Minnesota,” she said.

In Sibley County, where the suspect’s car was found, local resident Brian Liebhard also expressed shock at the BBC.

“This guy needs to be caught,” he said. “I don’t agree with everything about them [the two politicians] Vote, but it’s sad – that guy went to Vacco. ”
