United Airlines has stopped flights with “technical issues” at major U.S. airports, according to the company.
The FAA website shows that the company issued ground stops from the mainline flights departing from the airport, which caused problems in Chicago, Denver, Houston, San Francisco and New Jersey.
“We hope to have additional flight delays tonight when this issue is resolved,” Manchester United told BBC’s U.S. partner CBS News.
“Safety is our top priority and we will work with our customers to bring them to our destination,” the company said.
The BBC has contacted United Airlines for comment.
The company told CBS News that flights that were already in the air will continue to their destinations. It added that regional flights were not affected due to traffic congestion due to ground stopping, but could be delayed.
According to Flight Trucking Site Flighataare, as of EDT 21:00 (2:00 BST), more than 700 joint flights have been delayed.
