Participants in the DEM Youth Summit call for socialism, praising AOC for the future of the party

The “Fight for Our Future” event on Friday, July 25 has more than 200 youth organizers, leaders and progressive politicians, such as Rep. Ro Khanna of California and former DNC vice president David Hogg. As the party’s progressive party seeks new leadership, one participant urged Ocasio-Cortez to speak out about Gaza.

“I really like AOC,” attendee Reihena Djema from Ohio told Fox News Digital. “Unfortunately, I want to see her position and speak out more about Palestine. But, beyond that, I really think she should be the leader of the Democratic Party because she is a democratic socialist.”

Ocasio-Cortez wasted the political wave when he welcomed Mamdani to join Congressional Democrats in a closed-ended skill-sharing campaign on how to launch a successful digital movement. Self-described democratic socialists may have disappeared from Friday’s event, but their policies have penetrated into conversations at the summit.

“I think more politicians should adopt socialism,” Degema said. “I think it’s possible to focus on class consciousness and remove myself from this neoliberal concept, just like doing capitalism and exploiting workers, I think the Democrats should be the party of workers and looking for more to socialism.”

Mamdani has been criticized by conservatives and moderates for his past anti-capitalist comments, including over a year of advice Grasp production methods.

Zainab Chowdry, a rising junior at the University of Texas, told Fox News Digital.

“I think the candidate likes it Zohran Mamdani AOC is really encouraging. People like Mamdani, Muslims like me and Zainab, here, are encouraging to see it. I think people like 2028 can bring a lot of motivation. I think people are excited,” Ayan Molodina, A high school sophomore from Austin, Texas told Fox News Digital.

Morodina said people in Texas had “fired” for Mamdani, adding: “I think it proves that people are ready to change and I think he brings new perspectives people are looking for.”

“Yes, sometimes, many of these policies seem to be there. They’ve never tried it before,” admits Deon Tran, a young voter from California.

But Tran told Fox News numbers that young voters “need politicians and leaders who are willing to fail and willing to try, rather than sticking to institutional traditions.”

Another Californian who represents her state’s chapter for voters tomorrow said young voters are looking for “fresh thinkers” and leaders who can serve everyday Americans.

She added: “To some extent, that’s probably why many of these young voters really resonate with AOC and people like Zohran Mamdani.”
