Senate Republicans Raise Trump’s $9 billion spending kickback plan

Senate Republicans merge again behind president Donald Trump’s Billions of dollars spent packages and, with the help of Vice President JD Vance, pushed legislation through its ultimate procedural barriers.

Legislators will now walk back and forth in 10 hours of debate on the bill, expecting bloodshed by Senate Democrats and slamming the bill’s cuts as it cuts foreign aid and public broadcast funding.

Almost all of Trump’s Senate Republicans passed a smaller $9 billion package, while all Senate Democrats voted against it. Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, Susan Collins, R-Maine and R-Ky. Mitch McConnell is the only Republican who opposes the bill.

Once the debate is over, legislators will pass another vote in which either party passing the aisle can provide the bill with an unlimited number of amendments. Democrats may try to go sidelines or derail, while Republicans are expected to offer an amendment that will save about $400 million HIV and AIDS Funds from chopping blocks.

The Bush-era president’s AIDS Relief Emergency Plan (PEPFAR) agreed to agree before the vote and was supported by the White House. Cutting funds for the plan shocked some Senate Republicans, who publicly and privately warned them that they might not support the bill unless a solution was found.

Senate Majority Leader John ThuneRs.D. hopes his colleagues in the basement can play and pass the bill by the looming deadline on Friday.

“Our members are interested in doing something on the pepfar issue,” he said before the vote. “So, this is reflected in the alternative, and we hope that if we can get this replacement throughout the Senate finish line, the House will accept this small change.”
