A Secret Service sniper fatally shot the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who climbed to the top of a nearby building.
“A year ago today, 6:11 pm – eight minutes after taking the stage at Butler Farms, gathering thousands of Americans at the campaign rally – the rifle fire broke out, and the assassin’s bullets silenced our lives within a quarter of an inch after ending my life to restore the great movement in America.”

Butler’s shooting raises questions about how the suspect can climb nearby buildings and shoots Trump, leading to censorship Agent And his director resigned after the incident.
The agency further raised questions after another incident in September, where a gunman camped in a bush outside a Trump golf course and was shot dead by Secret Service agents.
Under new leadership appointed by Trump, the agency has been working to address the failure that began last year with the Butler shooting. But questions about safety errors remain, and the gunman’s motives are unclear.
