Linda Yaccarino, the owner of Elon Musk’s social media site X, announced she is resigning.
Ms. Yaccarino has held this position since June 2023.
In about platformshe said, “very grateful” Musk “committed me to protect freedom of speech, turn the company around and turn X into “all applications”.
Musk posted a short reply, saying only: “Thank you for your contribution.”
The BBC is close to X to comment.
Ms Yaccarino previously worked as advertising director at NBCuniversal, where she was once believed to have been turbulent through technology companies.
She joined XThen, Twitter had already supervised a large number of employees’ shootings when the advertisers resigned.
In her position she said she decided to resign after “two incredible years.”
She added: “When Elon Musk and I first talked about his vision for X, I knew it would be a lifelong opportunity to perform extraordinary tasks for this company.”
Whether there has been any disruption in their relationship since she joined 2023 is unclear.
However, Ms. Yaccarino’s scope in the company was limited from the beginning, and many observers called her CEO.
“Her background and actual authority make her the company’s chief advertising officer, not its CEO,” said Mike Proulx, vice president and research director forrester. “The reality is that Elon Musk has been and always in charge of X.”
He added: “The only surprise of Linda Yaccarino’s resignation was that it didn’t show up soon.”
During his tenure at Yaccarino, the tone of the platform changed a lot.
Its former avatar Twitter was accused of tilting to the left, and now X is unshamed to tilt to the right as the content gains its maximum visibility.
Despite Musk’s resignation from the CEO, he has never really taken a step back from his favorite social network, and there has been anything loud and more controversial since appointing her.
Those who work directly with Musk describe him as a visionary, another workaholic who others can only keep up for so long.
Regardless of the reason, her exports are in tough times, and Musk is dealing with his automaker Tesla.
He also got involved in a verbal battle with his former political ally, U.S. President Donald Trump, to eventually reach Musk Plan the new party.
X also continues to cause controversy.
The latest of these is Musk’s chatbot Grok-embedded in X- Good things about Hitler.
Xai said in a statement that it is working to remove so-called “inappropriate” posts.
