Rous also said that another potential witness he listed is unlikely to appear due to a scheduled trip to Vietnam during the trial.

Rous aimed the rifle at the agents, but gave up his weapon and the scene after the Secret Service agent opened fire.

The trial’s opening remarks are expected to begin Thursday, with prosecutors expected to file a lawsuit immediately after that. The court has allocated four weeks for Routh’s trial, although it is expected to end sooner.
