The 53-year-old rapper won the first ever MTV VMA Rock The Bells Visionars Award at a ceremony at UBS Arena, New York, Sunday, September 7.
“I want to thank my mother, I want to thank my father. Dad, Dad. God is the greatest,” Rhyme said in his speech. “I want to thank my beautiful child. I want to thank me DJ Scratch From the legendary engineering EPMD. ”
Then, rhyme forward MTV VJ yelled in particular Ananda Lewis, Who died in June After fighting breast cancer. She is 52 years old.
“I think we all need to acknowledge that incredible woman [who] Love us when I came to MTV in the 90s. She loves us, she loves culture [and] She lifted us up,” said Rhyme. “I love her very much. I miss her very much: It’s too late, it’s great [and] Incredible Royal Queen, Ananda Lewis. I want to make a big increase in her mother, her father, and her sister. ”
He concluded, “Thank you very much, man. The blessings won’t stop, so we won’t stop, baby!”

Rhyme has a long history in VMA, making its first awards ceremony in 1997. He has been nominated for 16 awards in his career, although the visionary award marks his first victory.

Last year, rhyme and Global Idol Award At the 2024 MTV European Music Awards in November. He had a hot mix of his career at the time, including “Put your hands in my eyes to see”, “Break Ya Neck”, “Scene” and “Look at Me Now”.
Rhyme explains what the Global Idol Award means to him in his acceptance speech.
“Thirty-four years of professional record, this is my first MTV award,” he said. “And it feels incredible, yo.”
Rhyme also shared some inspiring words with the audience at the awards ceremony.
“They tell us that perfection is impossible. It’s a lie,” he pointed out. “Look, perfection is imperfect. We are all the perfect we should be. So, you should be.”
In August, rhyme discusses his recent industry recognition.
He told him: “In the 25, 30 years of our career, we have just begun to be such a Miyagi Mr. type then. “We’re not Daniel-Sans anymore. We’re starting to master this S*** – because we’re doing it and doing it with grace, and we have a ball.”
Rhyme also praised his children T’ziah, Mariah, T’khi, Cacie, Trillian and Sacario for making his work more meaningful.
“In fact, I probably enjoyed the best life of my entire career in the last three to four years,” he said. “To be able to raise six beautiful kids, now to make money to do what we love and do what we love with my kids, there is nothing better than to feel for me.”
