First on Fox: this Ministry of Justice A lawsuit against Boston was filed Thursday, alleging that New York City’s policies avoid illegal immigration from federal authorities, marking an escalation of the Trump administration’s struggle against a fortress of democracy.
The Justice Department is named Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the city’s police commissioner in the lawsuit and zeroed in the Boston Trust Act, which prevented local police from working with certain requirements from federal immigration authorities.
“[Wu’s] “Resistance endangering public safety has led to the release of many criminals to Boston, who should be detained in the U.S. immigrants,” the Justice Department attorney said in the complaint.

The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal actions taken by the Department of Justice against the city and the shelter that it believes is illegal to immigrate. In addition to warning letters sent to several jurisdictions, the department has sued Colorado, California, Illinois and others.

“They explicitly enforce policies designed to undermine law enforcement and protect illegal foreigners from justice,” Bondy said. “If Boston does not protect its citizens from illegal foreign crimes, then the Justice Department will be the general.”
