La Mayor Bass calls ICE raid a “provocation bill” during Newsom event

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass lashed out at federal authorities Thursday, calling them the source of “disease” after agents were found patrolling outside California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s museum Congress map.

The bass appeared near the city’s Little Tokyo, where federal agents made at least one arrest outside the National Museum of Japan outside the event.

“Donald Trump, do you think it’s accidental? Donald Trump and his minions, Tom Homan, the strong man, whether it’s accidental or not, this is where the ice arrest is pushed,” Newsom said of the action outside the press conference. “I think it’s disgusting and pathetic.”

“It’s by no means a coincidence. Bill Essayli, an attorney in Central California who covers Los Angeles, responded to Bass’ comments on social media.

He wrote on X: “The mayor and other California officials are actual shelters from federal law.

Gregory Bovino, chief patrol agent for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) El Centro industry, said Thursday’s action was about public safety.

“Los Angeles is a safer place. Since we won’t have politicians who will do that, we do it ourselves,” he told Fox News. “So that’s why we’ve made it a safer place here today. We’re so glad to be here, not going anywhere.”

Thursday’s press conference focused on a battle against Congress’ re-dividing ahead of next year’s midterm elections. Newsom and fellow Democrats announced their game plans to oppose the president’s push Donald Trump Republicans have created up to five Republican-friendly congressional districts in Texas, sacrificing seats currently under the Democratic control.

“Today is California’s Liberation Day,” the governor said. “Donald Trump, you poke the bear and we’ll call it back.”
