DJ Daniel’s father enters the District 18 game in Texas in his son’s cancer battle

“I’m a normal person. I’m not a politician,” Daniel said. “I don’t have a six-figure deal. I’m just a regular guy trying to do that. Single dad. I have three kids for myself. I’m a disabled veteran and I’m trying to make a difference no matter what I’ve been through.”

Eventually, Daniel explained that he will “get up every day and go there to achieve” for the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas.

““I don’t call myself a politician. I’m a civil servant first because my responsibility is to the people,” Daniel said.

The Republican candidate said he was “for those who struggled,” explains that his campaign priorities – supporting law enforcement, security, health care and education – are not only abstract ideas, but also “a battle with my family and me face to face every day.”

Daniel said voters in Texas’ 18th Congressional District have been “deception” and they are ready to make real progress.

If he was elected to Congress in November this year, he also worked on term limits and explained that many elected officials ignored their tasks and were too comfortable in the office.

“Sometimes, when you marinate the meat, you kind of ruin it. Some people just wear it on the welcome. It’s like someone comes to your house and wants to stay for a while, they stay for two or three days.”

Daniel added: “Well, these people feel comfortable. When people feel comfortable, they become lazy. When they become lazy, they forget and disrespect.”

Texas will hold special elections on November 4 to replace late Rep. Sylvester Turner of late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Representative Li Texas 18th Congressional District Turner also died in March 2025 in the nearly three decades before his death in July 2024, leading to the current special election.

The 18th Congressional District of Texas represents parts of northern and eastern Houston, including downtown, as well as nearby Humble and Harris counties.
