Rep. Barry Moore announces running for Alabama Senate seat in 2026 elections

First on Fox: Another House Republican stared at the Senate seats in mid-2026.

Representative. Barry MooreR-Ala. He told Fox News Digital in an interview that he plans to run for Senator Tommy Tuberville’s seat in the House of Lords.

Moore, who represents the No. 1 Congressional District in Southern Alabama since 2021, sees himself as a Finance Hawks Donald Trump. Indeed, he was the first official in the country to recognize Trump during his first election campaign in 2015.

“I think my first job is to protect the freedom of the people and support the president in the process,” Moore said. “So, for us, it’s an opportunity to continue fighting for the first agenda of the United States and to make sure we have conservatives in the Alabama Senate, which is really the voice of the people.”

His biggest concern in Washington is the growing national debt, which has reached nearly $37 trillion, counting. Fox Business State debt tracker.

One of his top priorities when helping to create Trump’s “big and beautiful bills” is to put down pressure on Congress’ spending habits to achieve approximately $1.5 trillion in spending cuts over the next decade.

“I think we have to stick to the line when it comes to spending,” Moore said. “But again, this doesn’t get that way overnight. You’re not going to fix it overnight. So you have to go step by step.”

Moore, 58, is not alone in replacing Tuberville, who announced earlier this year that he would bid for the governor’s mansion after serving in the office for one term. He joined Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, Republican primary.

On the Democratic side, there are three more candidates, including Kyle Sweetser, Dakarai Larriett and Mark Wheeler II.

Although he was conservative, he still House Freedom Caucus And touted his deep conservative voting record – Moore believes that the Senate’s first issue and Congress in general are partisan gaps.

He noted that when he came to Washington in 2021, he was disappointed that Republicans and Democrats did not work together in the lower room of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-calif.

“I think most people in Washington, D.C. are in principle,” he said. “They are trying to do the right thing. Sometimes they are practical enemies. So we try to make sure that even on the ‘big and beautiful bill, it’s not perfect. It’s not the perfect version of 435 versions, but let the ‘principal people come to the table and say, ‘Let’s get a practical solution so that we can win for this government and win for our country – what I want to do, what I want to do, what we have done, what we have done.

“I don’t think we have to see each other as enemies,” he said. “And I think we have to keep in mind that they represent the realm and have different experiences in life.”

Nevertheless, despite his willingness to establish bipartisan aggression in the House of Lords, which is necessary in most legislative struggles, Moore supports changes in Senate rules to confirm confirmation to pass Senate Democrats Block Trump’s nominee.
