Six soldiers Georgia The Army Base was awarded a medal for responding to an armed attacker who was accused of shooting five people before providing assistance to injured colleagues, three of whom have now been released from the hospital.

Sergeant Quornelius Radford, 28, was assigned to Fort Stewart and was accused of shooting five of his compatriots on Wednesday with a personal pistol before he was quickly resolved by other troops. Army officials will not speculate on motivation.

“These soldiers under pressure, under trauma and under fire have absolutely saved lives,” Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said in a press conference Thursday morning. “One of the soldiers solved the man, so think about it – they were not armed, ran and resolved an armed man who knew they were actively shooting their partners, colleagues, their fellow soldiers.

“Another soldier jumped to the top of the man and conquered them until federal law enforcement could reach.”

According to CNN, the first soldier to conquer the suspect was named Chief of Staff Aaron Turner by the army, and Justin Thomas master Justin Thomas helped to restrain him. According to Driscoll, four other soldiers tend to be injured.

Melissa Taylor, one of the staff members, said she was in the office when she heard a fellow soldier “yelled and shot.” After staring into the corridor and seeing the smoke, she noticed a soldier lying on the ground. “I rushed to the soldiers immediately and started providing assistance. He was shot. So I was providing assistance to him and the First Sergeant started calling the medical staff.”

Six soldiers received the Excellent Service Medal for “Excellent Non-Combat Functional Achievement or Service” Thursday.

The shooting occurred in the second Armored Brigade Combat Team working in Radford. CNN reported that General Brig, commander of the Third Infantry Division and Stewart Fort Hunter Airport, said two of the five soldiers shot were still in hospital.

“A soldier is still a resident of the Winn Army [community hospital] Just in Fort Stewart. “She has performed very well. Sure, she has some road to recovery. We hope she can be released as early as this weekend, but it only depends on what’s going on in the next few days.”

Another soldier, who was more seriously injured, was recovering at the Savannah Memorial Community Hospital, about 45 miles from the base. “Her road to recovery is a little longer. The doctors are very active, but I think it will make her recover longer. They really hope she will recover completely.”

According to Lubas, three other shooting survivors were released yesterday. The Army has not yet determined that they are not injured in nature.

According to the New York Times, Radford sent an aunt a text Wednesday morning saying he “loves everyone, he’ll be in a better place because he’s going to do something.”

Radford’s father told Times that he had not noticed any abnormalities in his son’s behavior recently and was not aware that would lead to his attack on his fellow soldiers.

Radford remains in custody.
