After the collapse of the bipartisan talks on Saturday, Republicans Senate Majority Leader John Thune described the confirmation process as “broken,” emphasizing that the Senate’s nomination rules “need to change.”
Meanwhile, the Senate democracy Leader Chuck Schumer said changing the rules would be a “huge mistake” to speed up the pace of confirmation.
He also added that lawmakers “have never been compromised as we are now, and what is not qualified is flawed, compromised.”
