Chairman Jerome Powell announced unchanged interest rates on Wednesday. But in an unusual objection, two members of the board voted against the plan, saying they prefer cuts, suggesting that support for lower interest rates may be expanding.
Earlier Wednesday, the Commerce Department reported that the U.S. economy grew 3% between April and June after shrinking in the first three months of the year.
