Rep. Robert Garcia is disappointed with CBS for his processing of subtitles Bad rabbitGrammys performance.
California Democrats called CBS on Wednesday because closed titles in Spanish are not available in Bad Bunny’s performances and speeches During broadcast.
Bad Bunny started the Grammy Awards with a mix of “El Apagón” and “Después Dela Playa” from his record album. Un Verano sin tiand later won the Best Música Urbana Album Award. When he performed a Spanish repertoire, the title was “[SINGING NON-ENGLISH]”appeared; in his acceptance speech, the title is “[SPEAKING NON-ENGLISH]”show.
Garcia wrote in an open letter to George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS Entertainment, that the company needs to “take serious measures to address the failures that make this mistake possible.” This letter first reports.
Garcia was frustrated with CBS in a statement to BuzzFeed News on Thursday. “The question is about respect. Millions of Spanish speakers living in the United States deserve equal treatment and viewed as CBS’ English audience,” he said. “When millions of Americans surveyed the performance of record-breaking Latino artist Bad Bunny in one of Hollywood’s biggest stages, they met a reminder that for CBS, Spanish is just a matter of fact. [NON-ENGLISH]. ”
CBS is a U.S. industry standard title in English, where the word “non-English” is commonly used in subtitles.
