Emma Raducanu surpasses Anna Kalinskaya tennis in Washington semifinals

Anna Kalinskaya surpassed Emma Raducanu The Washington Open entered the finals 6-4 and 6-3, and she will face Leylah Fernandez.

After a strong start to two players, Kalinskaya got her first breakthrough, leading 5-4 and getting the start, handing Raducanu to her first game.

The two exchanged early breaks in the second set, before the Russians led again, proving to be decisive and breaking through again to win.

Kalinskaya rejected fans’ rematch in the 2021 U.S. Open final between Raducanu and Fernandez and will now aim to win her first WTA 500 title in Sunday’s final.

“It’s an interesting game. It’s so good to play with Emma,” said Kalinskaya, World 48. “I’m proud of myself. I’ve kept a positive attitude and stuck to my plans.”

Fernandez “What a fighter, she played incredible games and never gave up. I had a tough fight with her some time ago. Tomorrow, I think the situation will be the same and I’m excited.”

Earlier, Fernandez beat the third seed Elena Rybakina 6-7 (2), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3), and served by two players in the marathon battle.

Rybakina ranked first, gaining the advantage of two clutches returning to the championship in the tiebreak.

Fernandez gave up on her serve in the opening game of the second set, but Rybakina was unable to play 5-4, which allowed the Canadian to play with a second play preineble and upgrade the game.

Just like in the opener, both players dropped the game in the third set, but Fernandez won in three hours and 12 minutes to reach the first final of the season.
