U.S. Department of JusticeOfficials said the U.S. Department of Justice has asked Ghislaine Maxwell, an assistant to shamed financier Jeffrey Epstein, to meet with prosecutors.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said they planned to ask “What do you know?”, adding that he planned to meet “soon.”
Maxwell’s legal team told the BBC that they are in discussions with the government and that she will “always testify truthfully.”
President Donald Trump faced loud calls, including his own supporters, with more disclosures in the Epstein case. Last week, he directed attorney Pam Bondi to ask the court to release all relevant grand jury testimony in the case.
“This Justice Department has not shy away from the discomfort truth, nor is it any liability that the facts can lead to.”
He added: “If Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who committed crimes against the victims, the FBI and the Justice Department will hear what she is going to say.”
Blanche, who was Trump’s personal attorney at the 2024 criminal trial, said the Justice Department and the FBI’s recent June 6 statement “still accurate.”
“In a recent thorough review of documents maintained by the FBI in the Epstein case, no evidence was found that could prove the investigation of an uncharged third party”.
Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in a New York prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Maxwell was found guilty of helping Epstein sexually abuse the young girl. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in June 2022.
“We thank President Trump for his commitment to uncover the truth in this situation,” her attorney David Oscar Markus said in a statement Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Maxwell urged the Supreme Court to review her case. The Justice Department forced the court to dismiss the appeal last week.
During Maxwell’s 2022 trial, four women testified that they were abused as minors at their homes in Epstein in Florida, New York, New Mexico and the Virgin Islands.
Annie Farmer said one of the women said her only sense of justice came from Maxwell’s conviction.

Laura Loomer, a far-right conspiracy theorist who has Trump’s ears, questioned why Maxwell’s interview wasn’t conducted on Day 1.
“I think what I want to know is whether the Justice Department is basically saying they never met Ghislaine Maxwell, asking her or interviewing her about whether she has any information on sexual crimes against minors,” Ms. Loomer wrote on social media.
Despite the pressure, House Speaker Mike Johnson said his chamber will not release Epstein’s archives by September.
