Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced Tuesday that her city will join a class action lawsuit to stop what she said was “unconstitutional reckless attacks in the Los Angeles area.”
Bass says Los Angeles is joining the lawsuit because Trump administration Think of the city as a “test case of how far it can go as it moves forward”.
“The City of Los Angeles and counties, cities, organizations and Angelenos are bringing the government to court to stop its apparent violation of the U.S. Constitution and federal laws,” Bass said in a press release. “We are not intimidated – we are making Los Angeles a role model for how people who believe in American values can unite and unite.”

Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto said the lawsuit was intended to send a message to the Trump administration that the city would not allow attacks to become “standard operating procedures.”
“The federal government has concentrated thousands of armed immigrant agents, many of whom lack visible proof of identity, while the military in our community has carried out unconstitutional attacks, integrated and anonymous detentions, promoting fear and chaos among our residents,” said Los Angeles City attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto. “Today’s intervention motion shows that we will not accompany and allow these raids to continue or become standard operating procedures in our community.”

The nonprofit is accused of unconstitutional attacks by immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) and then left the immigrants in inhumane situations without beds, depriving food and legal counsel. The lawsuit also calls for those who are now held in overcrowded “dungeon-like” facilities to acquire lawyers, especially if the conditions are pathetic and unconstitutional.

Bass said she and other elected officials would not accept federal forces and military-style vehicles on their streets and would use all available resources to end her “resilly attack.”
