At least 59 people, including 21 children, have been confirmed to die from mountain floods along the Guadalupe River that began on Friday. In a girl’s summer camp by the river, 11 children and a counselor remained missing, and the river was flooded due to the remnants of tropical storm Barry. That storm landed in Mexico but triggered a massive unexpected thunderstorm in parts of Texas.

White House Spokesperson Abigail Jackson called it “shameful and disgusting” because people are politicizing what happened after the tragedy.
“After the tragedy, the first instinct of the left was to lie and political disasters to target its political opponents. False claims about the NWS have been repeatedly debunked by meteorologists, experts and other public reports,” Jackson said. “The NWS has done its job and even issued flood surveillance 12 hours ahead of schedule. The Trump administration thanked the first responders who took action to save hundreds of lives during this disaster and will continue to help Texas’ recovery efforts.”
