California State Government Gavin NewsomDemocrats argued Tuesday that Donald Trump and his administration were “ruthless, unrestless California obsession.”

In a letter to the state legislature, Newsom touted the state’s achievements during its national speech during its 175th anniversary. The governor also released his own clip, providing a shortened version of the address on social media.

Newsom has not provided a formal national address for the past three years, although it has been decades of tradition. Instead, he chose letters and pre-recorded videos.

“We are now nine months old to protect the values ​​we have and to retain the economic and social foundations established for California,” Newsom wrote. “We are facing a federal government based on incompetence and malicious ignorance that seeks death in independent thinking.”

California has been the Trump administration’s target on issues such as immigration, and in the summer, federal raids targeting immigrant workers sparked protests against arrests and deportations.
