JJ McCarthy threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes and ran another in his long-awaited NFL debut. Minnesota Vikings Monday night, the rally beat the Chicago Bears 27-24.

Chicago’s Caleb Williams made his first career sprint for the touchdown and scored in Ben Johnson’s first game as the Bears coach.

McCarthy did his best after struggling for the first three quarters. After Vikings and coach Kevin O’Connell missed a rookie season with a knee injury, he relied on the former Michigan star and sent it away on Monday when it was crucial.

Nahshon Wright returned 74 yards to lead the third quarter with a 17-6 lead, which wasn’t for McCarthy. But the Viking QB turned it over the fourth time.

McCarthy scored a 13-yard touchdown with Justin Jefferson. His two-point conversion pass failed and the Vikings trailed 17-12. Then, Minnesota only needs three games to lead, with McCarthy throwing a 27-yard TD pass to Aaron Jones. The conversion pass to Adam Thielen puts the Vikings in the top 9:46 20-17.

McCarthy faked a handover and scored a 14-yard touchdown on the right, with three minutes left to put it into 10 points. Chicago then scored 65 yards, and Williams threw a yard TD pass at Rome Odunze with the remaining two minutes, but the Vikings continued their eighth defeat of the Bears in the last nine games.

McCarthy won the 10th overall pick in 2024, completing 13 of 20 passes for a total of 143 yards. He grew up in the Chicago area and his first game on the Soldiers field was against the Vikings 18 years ago.

Williams stood out after finishing the first pick with the first pick, scoring 210 yards and scored on 35 passes. The former Heisman Trophy winner also won his first sprint TD when he scored from nine yards in the first quarter.

Minnesota’s Will Reichard kicked two shots, including 59 yards at the end of the first half, matching the Soldiers’ shot.
