House prepares to accept annual Defense Policy Bill this week, Democrats submit hundreds of amendments – many aim to denounce the president Donald Trump’s Management and current Republican priorities.
Members have proposed approximately 450 proposed amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2026. These include measures to deal with diversity, Israeli funding and Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
The House Rules Committee will review the bill on Monday afternoon and set parameters for debate, paving the way for floor voting later this week.
Most progressive amendments are unlikely to survive, emphasizing their symbolic nature. Still, Democrats are using traditional bipartisan defense programs to focus on opposition to the White House and Republican leadership.
