Social media erupted in the political arena after Thursday’s federal immigrant raid on a modern large factory in Georgia, resulting in the arrest of about 475 suspects, most of whom were South Korean nationals.
The raid, about 20 miles outside of Savannah, is part of a long-term investigation and is one of many prominent workplace operations that took place under the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. Modern officials said they do not believe any direct employees were arrested, but said they “comply with all laws and regulations.” LG Energy solutions also play a role in the factory, and he also said it will work with the authorities.
Some people aim to be the facility touted by former President Joe Biden as both Democratic and Republican politicians praised the project as a victory for the U.S. manufacturing. The electric vehicle manufacturing part of the facility is believed to have not been affected, but the battery base battery facility is the focus of multi-institutional work.

Others criticized the Trump administration because South Korea also expressed concern about the action.
“Totally incredible. Lutnick and Trump boasted about getting South Korea to invest billions in the U.S. and then turned to arrest the South Koreans, who are here temporarily helping Hyundai build a factory in Georgia. Stupid Burning.”
Rep. Nikema Williams, D-GA. The raid was a “cruel and injustice” Trump administration.
“U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents have also been wrongly detained,” she said. “This administration is actively working to instill fear and chaos in our most marginalized communities. Due process is not optional, it is the law. The government needs to follow it and adhere to the constitutional rights of every affected worker.”

“This is no longer the case with President Trump and his actions to retrieve the United States. I commend the Trump administration and our brave law enforcement for taking bold actions to put American workers first and protect our communities from the scourge of illegal immigration,” Carter wrote. “For anyone who thinks they can get jobs from hard-working Americans and hand them over to illegal immigrants, be aware: not under the surveillance of Donald Trump.”
