In August, Newsom, the rumored leader in the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, signed a series of bills that allow voters to decide whether to overturn the existing Congressional map and the state’s independent redivision committee, and send a new committee with more parties.

Newsom accused Trump of being “one of the most unpopular presidents in American history” and claimed that “he realized he would lose the election and Congress will return to the Democratic Party next November.” (pool)
The bills, sent to Newsom by the Democratic-led California Legislature, are part of the Blue State’s efforts to invalidate the new Congressional map of Texas with one of their own. The bill allows California voters to decide in the special election on November 4 whether to allow the state to suspend its bipartisan redistribution committee and replace the current district with a map developed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
