Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyers asked a federal judge in Tennessee on Thursday to ban senior Trump officials from commenting on their clients, which could be biased towards the jury.
Lawyers said government officials repeatedly accused Abrego Garcia, who faced charges of human smuggling charges by the El Salvador nation, as a member of the criminal gang and made other negative claims against him, which constituted the possibility of a “substantial possibility bias” lawsuit.
Lawyers pointed out many recent situations, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem who called Abrego Garcia “MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abusers and child raiders.”
