The Trump administration is recovering migrant According to a policy memorandum released by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday, the policy is the last neighborhood survey used during the tenure of former President George HW Bush to apply for naturalization in the United States.
“The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is resuming individual investigations of foreigners applying for naturalization under Section 335(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act,” Memorandum dated August 22 But it was released publicly on Tuesday.
According to President Lyndon B. Johnson, he abolished the Immigration and Nationality Act in 1965, removed immigration quotas and advocated “those who can contribute the most to this country, to grow, strength, and spirit.”
The government’s revitalization of individual investigations, also known as “neighborhood inspections,” includes U.S. citizenship and immigration services, requires information from immigrants seeking naturalization, such as “proof letters from neighbors, employers, colleagues, and people who know aliens and are able to understand substantive information about foreigners, including the requirements for naturalization.”

The memorandum states that under the 1965 law, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services “usually abandoned the requirements for neighborhood surveys” and historically relied on FBI background checks to determine “the applicant’s good moral character and naturalized qualifications.”
According to the memorandum, individual investigations will include interviewing naturalized applicants’ neighbors and their employment history for at least five years before one person applies for naturalization. These inspections are intended to ensure “a review of foreigners’ residence, good moral character, attachment to the U.S. Constitution, and disposal of good order and happiness in the United States.”
According to the memorandum, the investigation was conducted during the first Bush term in 1991. The memorandum added that a similar investigation was conducted on immigrants applying for naturalization.

“From 1802 to 1981, petitioners who requested naturalization had to present two witnesses who could prove their citizenship,” the memorandum said. “In 1981, Congress canceled the demand for witnesses, partly because the petitioner’s personality could be better determined through investigations, including neighborhood investigations.”
“However, by 1991, the former Immigration and Naturalization Bureau had largely stopped conducting neighborhood investigations,” the memo said.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service celebrates the return of the individual survey.
In a comment to Fox News Digital, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow said the office “is working to ensure that only the most qualified applicants are granted U.S. citizenship.”

“The Immigration and Nationality Act Directive directs the U.S. Citizenship and Services (USCIS) to conduct individual surveys and include neighborhood surveys will help strengthen investigations of these statutory requirements to ensure we meet Congressional intent,” he continued. “It should be known that Americans are taking their responsibilities seriously to ensure that foreigners are properly scrutinized, have good moral character, which is a reliance on the principles of the United States Constitution and have a full attitude towards good order and happiness in the United States.”
