House Democrats urge Trump administration to allow children injured during Gaza Israel – Hamas War Enter the United States for emergency medical services.

In a letter to the Secretary of State on August 25 Marco RubioMore than 140 lawmakers have demanded the revocation of the recent move to prevent approval of all visitors’ visas, including people in the Gaza Strip, including children who need medical services.

“This pause will deny the urgent need of medical care for children. It is wrong to prevent children struggling in such a horrible conflict from receiving life-saving medical care,” the letter reads.

Furthermore, the decision overlooks the fact that all Palestinians leaving Gaza go to receive medical treatment or accompanying their families have been subject to strict scrutiny by the Israeli government, including Israeli security permits, identity verification, and assessment of whether they have ties to Hamas,” it continues.”

The letter came abruptly announced by the State Department earlier this month that it would stop issuing travel visas to people in Gaza, including medical humanitarian visas, while reviewing the process of allowing some of them to enter the United States, some of whom had already done so before the pause.

“In recent days, we have suspended all visitor visas for individuals in Gaza, and we have conducted a comprehensive and detailed review of the processes and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical humanitarian visas,” the State Department wrote in a social media post on August 16.

Rubio said the change came amid allegations that several Congressional offices reached out, and “some organizations bragging and participating in obtaining these visas have close ties to terrorist groups like Hamas.”

The agency announced the news, several children from Gaza arrived in the United States for medical treatment “no accidents”, House Democrats wrote in the letter.

“We call on you to immediately reverse the State Department’s decision and restore temporary medical humanitarian visas that are approved by people in Gaza to enter the United States for the life-saving care they need,” the lawmaker wrote.

The letter requires Rubio to designate a national security issue as a visa-approved change. Legislators also asked to arrange a schedule for the agency’s review process and ask what safeguards should be considered to prevent disruptions in emergency medical programs.

Democrats also called on the department to allow children in Gaza to need emergency medical care from pauses.

“We will thank any clarifications about the basis of this policy and reassess its impact on vulnerable individuals and families who are desperately needed,” the letter reads.
