More than 2,000 National Guards have been deployed to Washington for crime missions

Now, National Guard units from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee are joining Trump administration’s crackdown in Washington. A total of more than 2,000 National Guards plan to participate in Trump administration’s efforts to commit crimes in the country’s capital, with about 1,300 already reaching Washington.

A U.S. Army official told Fox News that as of Tuesday, about 500 West Virginia National Guard soldiers were briefings in Washington. Officials said they will plan to join the DC National Guard “support the mission that currently exists” once the training is over.

On Monday, the governors from Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana announced that they would also send National Guards from their respective states. Mississippi promised 200 soldiers, Tennessee said it would send 160 soldiers, and Louisiana said it would deploy 135 soldiers.

In addition, South Carolina said it would send 200 soldiers, and Ohio said it planned to deploy 150 people to support Trump’s mission.

The states said they are responding to the request of the Department of Army to assist the District of Columbia National Guard.

“The Secretary of the Army asked us to send 150 military police from the Ohio National Guard to support the District of Columbia National Guard,” Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine said in a statement Saturday. “These Ohio National Guard members will be on patrols on the spot and serve as additional security. None of these military police currently serve as law enforcement officers in Ohio.”

The White House said the National Guard will protect federal assets and provide a “safe environment” for law enforcement officers and “provides a visible presence to stop crime.”

“President Trump appreciates and welcomes the additional help from local and state officials who want to join the operation to protect our precious capital from dangerous criminals,” a White House official said in a statement to Fox News Digital Digitization. “As part of President Trump’s efforts to make DC safe and beautiful, more National Guards may be called to Washington, D.C. – The role of the National Guard has not changed.”

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment on why the National Guard from other states joined the District of Columbia National Guard.

Trump initially floated the Washington Metropolitan Police Department and sent the National Guard to face crime in Washington on August 6.

A few days later, He announced that he would activate about 800 National Guardsand will take over the Metropolitan Police Department to resolve crimes in Washington.

“I’m deploying the National Guard to help rebuild the law, orders and public safety,” Trump told reporters at an August 11 press conference. “And they will be allowed to do the job correctly.”

While authorizing the temporary acquisition of the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington officials filed a lawsuit questioning the Trump administration’s actions on Friday.

“By illegally announcing the takeover of the MPD, the government is abused by its temporary, limited authority under the law,” Washington Attorney General Brian Schwalb wrote in a post on Friday X. “This is the worst threat DC has ever had to to its own rules and we are working to stop it.”

Meanwhile, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser suggested that the Trump administration is not interested in deploying troops to combat crime in cities, but rather raises the Trump administration’s massive deportation agenda.

“I don’t think it’s related to DC crime,” Bowser said Sunday. “The focus should be on violent crime. … No one objected to focusing on reducing any level of violence. So if it’s actually about immigration enforcement, then the government should make this simple and straightforward.”
