Commission of Democratic States (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin had been transformed into Ohio this week on a battlefield as part of his “50-State Strategy” to help Democrats try to win coast-to-coast elections.
“We can’t be a party that focuses only on national power because there is no election win in states like Ohio,” Martin said in Cleveland at a forum on the Democratic Future. “Ohio is a huge swing in 2026.”
Martin, who was elected as DNC chairman in early February, was tasked with helping Democrats escape the political wilderness, when the party lost control of the White House and the Senate and did not win a House majority after a stunning setback in the election last November.
But while Democrats are now full of energy to resist the president Donald Trump’s Martin’s tenure so far has swept the National Party Committee’s term during his second tour at the White House, and it’s by no means a smooth sailing.

“There is a huge leadership vacuum in the Democratic Party, and Ken is proven to be a weak, ineffective leader, and is not ready for it yet,” a former DNC official told Fox News.
In his first four and a half months, painful infighting hindered Martin’s long-time chairman when he won the DNC presidential election.
Distraction: Democrats who want to abandon Hogg’s controversial
David Hogg, The 25-year-old activist and school shooting survivor were elected vice president of the DNC on the same day, and Martin won the presidential election, supporting some elderly Democrats in the party by ensuring millions of dollars spent in his external political groups to support some in the blue area he said “slept on the steering wheel”, which inspired the party’s civil war.

Hogg threatened to spend money on Democrats, who were unprecedented in the DNC, ultimately leading him to withdraw from the National Party Committee earlier this month.
The party’s clash with Hogg included awkward Martin audio – leaked to the press – asking about his ability to lead the DNC.
“You essentially destroyed any opportunity I had to show the leadership I needed,” Martin said of Hogg in the recording. By Politico. “I don’t know if I want to do that.”
Democratic favorable ratings drop to historic lows
Days later – more bad news – two national labor leaders quit their roles in the DNC.
American Teachers Federation President Randi Weingarten and American National, County and Municipal Employees Federation President Lee Saunders refused to continue as general members of the DNC when questioning the direction of the party under Martin. The news first reported tHe New York Times.

Meanwhile, in a key fundraising battle with competitors Republican National Committee According to the latest campaign cash figures, DNC is behind.
The latest Federal Election Commission documents show that the RNC’s cash was $67 million as of the end of April, far exceeding the DNC’s $17 million vault.
While the infighting in the past few months may have disappeared, the party’s fundraising efforts may be a concern as Democrats aim to win the House and Senate victory in next year’s midterm elections.
A DNC committee member also requested to remain anonymous, telling Fox News that Martin’s tenure was “overwhelmed so far.”
Meanwhile, longtime Democratic strategist and current DNC committee member Maria Cardona told Fox News: “DNC members are absolutely frustrated and tired of fighting and hope everyone can overcome themselves and focus on helping Chairman Martin and the party defeat Republicans instead of attacking each other.

Cardona believes: “Neither our country nor our democracy has time to face the threat that exists, and that’s where we need 1000% of our battles.”
An anonymous DNC official admitted: “The Democrats are in the reconstruction phase.” Everyone knows it will be a difficult task. ”

But, the official added: “That’s why the party overwhelmed electing Ken and trusting him to lead the way. Democrats should work together to focus on the only thing that matters: win.”
Cardona told Fox News: “Everything Ken does, no matter what the drama causes, is the right move.”
She and others who support Martin noted that Democrats have achieved success in high and special elections in recent months, as well as increased investment in state parties by DNC.
Another committee member who was awarded anonymity pointed to the traditional powerful role of the NPC chairman when their party was in power in the White House.
“Ken is the boss,” the committee member told Fox News. “Ken is rebuilding the house…he still has some major renovations.”
But committee members added that the role usually frowns with others in the party.
Weingarten and Saunders both support Martin’s rivals, running for DNC chairman and are now Wisconsin Democratic chairman Ben Wikler. As chairman, Martin later removed Weingarten from the DNC’s Rules and Charter Committee, the organization responsible for drafting the Democratic presidential nomination calendar and election procedures.
DNC committee members told Fox News Digital that it was no surprise that union leaders decided to resign from the DNC because both of them supported another candidate. ”
Martin is interviewed this week New York Timessaid: “I know there are a lot of people who bear resentment, and that’s still litigating their people who don’t win the campaign.”

“Some people in Washington, D.C. just want to win the debate, but I focus on winning the election. This year, the Democrats have an unprecedented record of 32 wins and a great performance in games across the country. That’s what I was elected.”
“We have to cut noise and focus on effective methods,” the chairman stressed, “The American people don’t care about the endless chats on the ring road, and I don’t want to know that Democrats are fighting for them. Under my leadership, that’s what the DNC does.”
